Hu Lu 葫蘆

I’ve always wanted to create a collection that connects back to my roots, because I truly believe the values we inherit from our culture become a part of who we are today.

The Hu Lu in Mandarin, or Wu Lou in Cantonese, is a gourd that symbolises longevity, good health, and prosperity. In Asia, its form is often recreated as ornaments or charms, placed in homes or carried around to ward off negativity and attract good fortune.

I chose the Hu Lu not only because I love its shape, but also because I believe a little extra positivity never hurts, something we could all use a bit more of in our lives.

I would like to explore more finishes with Celadon glaze in the future, in the hopes to direct the collection towards a more minimal and elegant style.
